I thought about what had gone wrong in the last video and also thought about different ways that I could after effects to create a well edited gif. I thought that instead of putting ash onto the actual poster instead I would make some videos of dropping ash onto a blank piece of paper. FMP: The Road video attempt 1

I have had my first attempt filming the ash being blow off my road poster but this hasn’t work well. After many attempts to blow the ash off myself, by fanning it with card and using an automatic fan. FMP: The Road final poster print

FMP: Day of the Triffids Screen printing and final poster

FMP: 1984 Screen Print and poster finishing

Now that I had chosen to work with the schmalfette font I began creating my screen printed poster. I bought 10 sheets of cartiridge paper at 150 gsm and got my screen ready for printing. To try and capture a more dystopian feel to the type I basically used a power hose to clean the emultion from the screen and made sure to try and blast extra bits off around the letters and then I added some extra emultion to randomly block certain parts. FMP: The Road Ash tests and development

After finally getting the letter forms and quote to look the way I wanted I continued using the images of carnivorous plants to try creating different backgrounds for my poster.

After all of my research and looking at a lot of different social issues I came back to the idea of using quotes from novels. I thought about my dissertation and how it argues that apocalyptic narratives challenge society and bring attention to social issues and so I felt that this would still link to what I had looked at.
