For the animation I wanted to make I took the time to create some illustrations using indian ink and a brush. I decided to inlcude images of market items, a tower block off of Roman Road, and sinister version of the Starbucks logo, a market stall wheel, paradee marchers, a balloon and a crying figure of a person.
I made these with the intention of animating all the different elements as a very simplistic way of pointing to the loss of the market and sense of community whilst portraying the sinister nature of large corporations.
I used this image of the stripes from the market stalls of Roman Road and simply made it into a black and white silhouette in photoshop
I chose this typeface called Slackey from google fonts due to its hand rendered appeal I thought that when I manipulated it in the way I wanted it would have a much better look than a standard symmetrical typeface.
Once I had all of these components ready I began animating them and came out with this final video. Unfortunately I had to cut alot of what I would have liked out of it due to the video being limited by the brief to 1 minute or less but I think that the video effects still work well and when having a crit in the studio I was given feedback that the resolution of the video needs to be improved and that it gives the wrong impression in that viewers of the video through out the day thought it had ended when there was still some content left. On a positive note I was told that the sound was used well and the tutors liked the investigation into emblems and said I seemed to be onto something. It would seem that this is an unfinished piece and some editing will have to be done maybe re-arranging the elements of the video to flow in a way that is easier to follow and less confusing.
